General Treatment Techniques

CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach to managing a wide range of mental health concerns. It is considered a gold standard treatment because it has been thoroughly researched and shown to be effective across many different issues and age groups.
CBT helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Often, unhelpful thinking patterns can keep us stuck in cycles of distress. CBT gives you tools to identify and shift these patterns so you can respond to challenges in more helpful and balanced ways.
In therapy, we’ll work together to build insight, learn new strategies, and support you in making meaningful, lasting change. CBT is collaborative, goal-focused, and always tailored to your individual needs.
EMDR

EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help people recover from trauma and distressing life experiences. It’s recognised by the World Health Organization and the Australian Psychological Society as a gold standard treatment for PTSD, and is also helpful for anxiety, phobias, grief, and low self-esteem linked to past experiences.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming or "stuck." This is done through guided sets of eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, while recalling specific memories in a safe and supported environment.
EMDR doesn’t erase the memory, it helps you hold it with less distress and more perspective. Many people report feeling lighter, more grounded, and better able to move forward after EMDR treatment.
ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach that helps you build a more meaningful life—even in the presence of difficult thoughts and feelings. Rather than trying to "get rid of" distress, ACT teaches you how to respond to it in a more flexible and compassionate way.
ACT helps you clarify what really matters to you, and supports you in taking actions that align with your values. Through mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and practical behavioural tools, ACT can support lasting change and improved wellbeing, especially for concerns like anxiety, low mood, trauma, OCD, and life transitions. This approach is especially helpful if you’ve tried to “think your way out” of distress and found it hasn’t worked.
ACT offers a different path: one focused on psychological flexibility, self-compassion, and living a life that feels more purposeful.
Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy is a powerful, longer-term therapy approach that helps you understand and change deeply rooted emotional patterns that may have started in childhood. These patterns, called "schemas", can influence how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to stress.
If you find yourself stuck in the same emotional cycles, repeating relationship struggles, or battling intense self-criticism or shame, Schema Therapy can help you understand why and begin to heal.
